When we are young, we notice and treasure little things our parents have set aside. One of the first pieces of jewelry I ever saw was my mom’s white gold diamond and garnet ring. It was dear to her and a gift from her father on her 16th birthday. Once I got into the jewelry industry I looked at the ring differently. She had owned the ring for over thirty years, and the stone was still lustrous and rich in the pomegranate seed color after which it was named. The first “real” jewelry I bought for my mom was matching garnet earrings, which she still wears today.
For over 5,000 years garnet, the birthstone for January, has been recognized as an ideal gemstone for use in jewelry. It comes in a variety of colors, the only exception of which is bluish tones, and the most popular of which is a deep reddish purple or reddish brown. The stone is among the hardest semi-precious stones meaning it has an excellent ability to resist abrasions. This makes it an ideal stone for every-day worry free wear. Because Garnet is found in many countries around the world, it is also an affordable gem, and therefore an affordable treasure for what will be a treasured gift.
We have many garnet options available to suit any style. Call today for more information!
